Clarity OS is built around Protection Windows: periods you choose in advance where selected apps and websites stay blocked so the decision can hold when the urge arrives.
This post is a plain-language map of the product — not a feature dump, and not a promise that every possible bypass is closed.
Decide once, then keep the window
You pick a start, an end, and what to block. That can be a one-off window or a recurring schedule. While the window is active, Clarity enforces the commitment on the devices that are ready.
The point is temporal: protection is not an always-on lifestyle sentence. It is a bounded interval you consented to while you still agreed with yourself.
Flexible vs strict
Flexible Protection Windows are for ordinary focus. You can end them early when plans change.
Strict Protection Windows are for the sessions where early exit is the failure mode. They are designed to stay active until the scheduled end. Choose them deliberately — they exist because soft exits are how most blockers lose.
What you block
Block categories group the apps and sites you want limited. Attach those categories to a window so the same rules can recur without rebuilding the list every time.
Coverage depends on the platform and the permissions you grant. On iPhone, Clarity uses Apple’s Screen Time and Managed Settings family of APIs for app and website enforcement. Optional DNS Extra Protection is a separate adult/SafeSearch layer — not a substitute for your personal blocklist.
How status stays honest
A schedule on the server is intent. Applied enforcement on the device is what matters for the “Protected” label.
Clarity treats those as separate facts. If a window is active but this device has not freshly verified that blocking is live, we will not invent a reassuring shield. That restraint is intentional; see our post on honest protection status for the design rule behind it.

Create an account, prepare your iPhone, attach a block category, and schedule a first window you actually want to keep. Use flexible for a rehearsal. Use strict when you already know the bargaining will start.
