What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device. They help websites remember information about your visit — for example, whether you are signed in. Clarity OS also uses a small amount of browser storage for similar purposes, which we describe below.
How Clarity OS Uses Cookies
Clarity OS uses a small number of cookies, and only for purposes that are essential to how the service works.
When you sign in, we use session cookies to keep you authenticated, protect your account, and allow the website to function securely while you use Clarity OS. Without these cookies, you would need to sign in again on every page.
These cookies are strictly necessary for account access and security. They are not used for advertising or to track you across other websites.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how our website is used and to improve performance and reliability. This helps us see which pages are visited and general information about device type and browser — always in aggregate.
According to Vercel, this analytics service does not use cookies and does not track you across different websites. Before analytics data leaves your browser, Clarity OS removes sensitive information from page URLs, such as tokens or reset codes that might appear in query parameters.
Browser Storage
In addition to cookies, Clarity OS stores a small amount of information locally in your browser. This helps the web app stay responsive — for example, while a protection session is starting or if your connection is briefly interrupted.
This local browser data is a convenience cache only. Your active and scheduled Protection Windows are stored securely on our servers and continue on your paired devices. Signing out clears this local browser cache, but it does not cancel, pause, or weaken your Protection Windows.
For more about how we handle personal information across Clarity OS, see our Privacy Policy.
Cookies We Do Not Use
Clarity OS is built with a privacy-first mindset. We intentionally keep tracking technology to a minimum.
Clarity OS does not currently use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, cross-site profiling technologies, or third-party marketing cookies. We do not sell your data to advertisers, and we do not use cookies to follow you around the internet.
Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, or clear site data entirely.
You can also sign out of Clarity OS at any time. Signing out ends your authenticated session and clears local browser cache used for the web dashboard. It does not stop active Protection Windows or change your schedules. Blocking essential cookies may prevent you from signing in or using account features.
If you use Clarity OS on desktop, mobile, or through our browser extension, those apps may store information on your device to keep protection working reliably. Those experiences are covered in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example, if we add new features or change how we use cookies or analytics. When we do, we will post the updated policy on this page and revise the date below.
