Effective Date: July 9, 2026
Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Clarity OS, including the website at clarityos.dev, the web app, desktop apps, iOS app, device pairing flows, and related services.
By creating an account, installing Clarity OS, starting a Protection Window, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Clarity OS.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Clarity OS. If you use Clarity OS on behalf of another person or organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for them.
Accounts
Clarity OS uses email and password accounts through Supabase Auth. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that occurs through your account.
New accounts may need to confirm their email address before signing in. Password reset links are sent by email. You can sign out from the web or iOS app, and you can delete your account from account settings. Account deletion disables active protection, revokes linked devices, cancels local subscription access records, deletes user-owned rows and files, and deletes the Supabase auth user.
Subscriptions
Individual Clarity OS subscriptions are licensed to one person. Family features may allow invited family members in the future, but those features are not generally available today.
Clarity OS is designed to offer a monthly plan for $12 per month and an annual plan for $96 per year. Paid subscriptions are intended to renew automatically unless canceled.
The current implementation creates a 14-day free trial entitlement when your account is created. Paid Stripe checkout, customer portal management, and verified Stripe webhook processing are not enabled in the current build until we make paid billing available.
Free Trial
Your 14-day free trial begins immediately after signup. During an active trial, the backend treats your account as eligible for Clarity OS Pro features. When the trial expires and no active subscription exists, Pro feature access may stop and device sync may return no active enforcement state.
Billing
When paid billing is available, payment processing will be handled by Stripe or another payment provider we make available. Clarity OS does not collect or store your full card number or bank account details.
Billing status is determined by Clarity OS backend billing tables and server-derived entitlement checks, not by client-side settings or local device state.
Renewals
Paid subscriptions are intended to renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled before renewal. Renewal timing and payment retries may depend on the payment provider.
Cancellation
You may cancel anytime. When self-service billing management is enabled, cancellation will be available through the billing portal. Until then, or if you need help, contact support@clarityos.dev. Canceling may stop future renewals, but it does not automatically delete your account.
Refunds
Refunds are handled under our separate Refund Policy.
Protection Windows
Protection Windows are time-bounded sessions that tell supported devices to block selected websites, domains, apps, or categories. Protection Windows can be started manually, scheduled as recurring or one-time windows, and synced to linked devices.
The server-side Protection Window instance is the main source of truth for runtime enforcement. Devices reconcile against that server state. Server pushes, desktop realtime messages, iOS silent pushes, and local background tasks are hints and recovery paths, not guarantees that a device will receive an update instantly.
If you choose strict protection, the current implementation may prevent ending an active strict session early until its planned end time.
Service Limitations
Clarity OS uses best-effort enforcement. We do not guarantee that every distraction, website, app, browser, network path, or workaround will always be blocked.
Enforcement can be limited by operating system permissions, device settings, app-store rules, browser behavior, DNS and network changes, offline devices, power-saving behavior, local clock changes, user tampering, unsupported software, or outages affecting Clarity OS or third-party services.
Supported Platforms
The current product supports the web app, Windows desktop enforcement, macOS desktop enforcement, and iOS enforcement where the required system permissions are available. The Chrome extension is deferred and hidden by default unless explicitly enabled for internal testing. Android is not supported in the current implementation.
Acceptable Use
You may not misuse Clarity OS, interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access, abuse APIs, scrape or automate the service in a way that harms availability, resell or redistribute the software, share an individual subscription outside its intended personal use, reverse engineer the software except where law allows, or use Clarity OS to violate law or another person's rights.
Intellectual Property
Clarity OS LLC owns the Clarity OS software, design, brand, website, documentation, and related intellectual property. The software is licensed, not sold.
You keep ownership of content and configuration you add to your account, such as blocklists, schedules, Protection Window settings, goal notes, and uploaded files. You give Clarity OS permission to host, process, transmit, and display that content as needed to provide, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
Third-Party Services
Clarity OS relies on third-party services and platforms, including Supabase for authentication, database, storage, realtime, and related backend services; Vercel for hosting and analytics; Resend for contact form email and SMTP support; Stripe for paid billing when enabled; Apple and iOS system frameworks for iOS enforcement; Microsoft Windows APIs and services for Windows enforcement; and Google Chrome extension APIs for deferred/internal extension support. Those services may have their own terms, availability limits, and outages.
Beta Features
Some features, platforms, and enforcement layers may be beta, internal, experimental, or not available to every user. Beta features may change, break, or be removed.
Availability and Maintenance
We work to keep Clarity OS available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, release updates, limit or suspend features, or change the service to improve reliability, security, or product fit.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Clarity OS is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Clarity OS LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost productivity, or business interruption. Our total liability for claims relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid to Clarity OS in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Clarity OS LLC from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising from your use of Clarity OS, your content or configuration, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or another person's rights.
Termination
You may stop using Clarity OS at any time, cancel a subscription when billing is available, or delete your account from account settings. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk for the service or other users, or if we are required to do so by law.
Changes to the Service
We may add, change, limit, or remove features, platforms, integrations, or enforcement methods. We will try to communicate material changes in a reasonable way.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you. Your continued use of Clarity OS after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Dispute Resolution
Before filing a legal claim, please contact us at support@clarityos.dev so we can try to resolve the issue informally. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the state or federal courts located in South Carolina will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where law requires otherwise.
Class Action Waiver
To the fullest extent allowed by law, disputes must be brought only on an individual basis, and not as a plaintiff or class member in a class, consolidated, or representative action.
Severability
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest of the Terms will remain in effect.
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Refund Policy, and any plan-specific terms presented at checkout, are the entire agreement between you and Clarity OS LLC for your use of Clarity OS.
